On February 01, 2018 Corus Entertainment announced that their subsidiary Nelvana has joined forces with Sumitomo to co-produce anime properties for the global market. However none of the planned anime properties were named at that time. [1] More than one year later Geki Drive was revealed to be one of the anime properties Sumitomo was involved in.[2]
